🏀 Never Forgetting the Internship That Touched My Heart: BSU Athletics Department - Fall 2025
As the Fall 2025 academic semester wraps up, I find myself getting a little emotional. It’s the kind of emotion that swells up when you realize you’re closing a chapter that’s been truly meaningful. My internship with the BSU Athletics Department has been more than just a line on a resume; it's been a profound and sometimes hilariously memorable experience that truly touched my heart.
I’ve always been a hobbyist in making slight, but remarkable, comedic gestures—and that sense of playful creativity found a wonderful home here.
The Bonds That Will Last 💖
I know I’m going to miss the bond I’ve built, especially with my supervisor. As the Graphic Design Intern, I recently had the joy of giving away some Adobe swag to celebrate the hard work of my peers. It felt good to reward them for playing along with what I’ve been learning and creating.
Wait, I’m getting off track again! (I told you, I sometimes compare myself to being the percentage of the actor who is a head jockey from the okay… stick to the blog, Mardi!)
It’s just that there's so much happening: I’m about ready for my "wedding" of graduating, while also finishing my animation project where I grew a different, deeper bond with the course material this time.
Sometimes I even compare my own slightly-above-average height to being the height of a Podium of design research for my empire collaboration under my company, Mazopal Design, to the rescue as an old-soul Gen Z who sometimes brings the "Basquaitism into the Ne after now opening the Hirshhorn." All these creative pursuits fueled my work here.
The Art of the Assist (and the Design) 🎨
My main focus as the design intern was to create engaging and eye-catching promotional material. The final deadline for a new flyer landed on November 11, 2025—the very last one for the semester. It was for the Intramural Basketball Championship (Call of Duty Edition Inspo)!
Wow. That day marked the close out of a semester where I made and promoted every one of 13 distinct flyers across social media.
This internship wasn't just about clicking buttons in design software; it was about learning the power of visual communication. I found myself realizing that minimalism is the new style I need to start adapting, largely because the maximalism I used before was so bold. It's about finding that balance—making a big impact with less.
From creating social media graphics for the 14 teams to seeing my designs promoted campus-wide, every piece was a labor of love. It was a chance to use my skills to support incredible student-athletes and the dedicated staff of the Athletics Department.
This internship reinforced a truth I’ve always known: design isn't just decoration; it's a vital part of the team's victory. And the relationships I formed here—the laughter, the camaraderie, the shared mission—will be a bond I carry with me long after I cross the graduation stage.
Thank you, BSU Athletics, for a semester that was truly remarkable.
