"Why I Do What I Do." - Bold, Black, Non-Binary, and Building: My Journey in the DMV

Yo. Let's get straight to it.

I’m a bold, bold, bold person. That’s just who I am. Does it mean I jump to conclusions sometimes? Yeah, I can own that. But the core of me, especially when it comes to people I know and care about, is always trying to figure out where things clash so we can fix it. My go-to is pretty much: "Yo, how can we make this right?"

Stepping into new roles at 22 feels... strange sometimes. Like I'm navigating a whole new landscape. As a Haitian, non-binary person, I know I'm bringing a unique perspective and making contributions, but navigating that, especially the idea of networking while potentially being misunderstood – it’s a process. Sometimes I pause and think, "Why didn't I understand that sooner?" or "Why didn't I know?" But that's part of growth, right?

I’m from DC – the Chocolate City, or what it used to be. That grounding shapes me. Right now, I'm typing this out partly for myself, a reminder that it’s okay to be different. More than okay, actually. Because how else are we supposed to come together and build something powerful in these revolutionary, Pan-Africanist times, especially under the weight of this "Amerikka"?

That brings me to my mission. I am actively on a quest to collaborate with Black Organizations. My goal is to uplift our community, to help us mobilize as a strong, diasporic force. Being an adult, running a business right here on a college campus, it grounds that mission in the everyday hustle. It shows me the importance of connection and collective work.

And that leads me here: I'm putting it out there that I’m open and eager to work with different creators, especially in the DMV area. I tell stories visually, often weaving in elements of mystery. If you're building, creating, organizing, or dreaming about ways to uplift our community, let’s connect.

It’s about understanding ourselves, understanding each other, and figuring out how our different paths can converge to build something meaningful.

Let's build.
