I am currently working as a graphic design intern, where I am responsible for creating visually engaging graphics and flyers for a variety of intramural sports and fitness classes. A key part of my role is developing a consistent visual identity for the Intramural Sports program and creating promotional materials for social media platforms like Instagram and Fizz. I collaborate directly with Coach Patricia Fleming, the Assistant Athletic Director, to brainstorm ideas and ensure my designs meet the program's goals. This experience has helped me improve my time management skills, as I often manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
What I Am Doing
As a graphic design intern, my primary duties involve creating compelling visual content. I design flyers and graphics for a wide range of intramural sports, including Basketball, Volleyball, Boxing, and Flag Football. I also develop promotional materials for fitness classes such as Yoga and Spin Class. In this role, I am tasked with maintaining a consistent visual identity across all platforms, and I design graphics specifically for social media. A major part of my work is collaborating with the Assistant Athletic Director to ensure my designs align with the program's overall vision.
Whom I Am Working With and Learning From
I am working closely with and learning from Coach Patricia Fleming, the Assistant Athletic Director. This collaboration has been invaluable, as she provides guidance and feedback on my projects. I am also learning from the entire staff directory at Bowie State Athletics, gaining a better understanding of each of their roles and how they contribute to the different sports divisions.
New Skills and Knowledge
Through this internship, I have developed several new skills and gained important knowledge. Specifically, I've learned more about the specific skills needed for different sports and have a deeper understanding of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), especially through the use of Adobe's creative tools. I am continuously improving my ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.
