Rolling! Day 1 of the Prince George's Film Festival: Get Down On It

This blog paragraph marks Year 4 since a pivotal collaboration began, stemming from my inaugural 2022 film volunteer experience as a former Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community Fellow. That initial networking opportunity, facilitated by the director and associate director of the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre, connected my Visual Communication and Digital Media Arts major (with a concentration in Advertising Design) with the Fine and Performing Arts Centre/Center. This spark ultimately ignited a powerful collaboration that now includes our major corporate partner, Adobe, and the Fine and Performing Arts Centre.

Commercial Break: It feels like a scene straight out of Staples—where you had to jump through hoops to get into the Entrepreneurship Innovation Centre, only to pop into an event you forgot to look up on Startup Tree because you're getting ready to graduate. And, of course, this is all kicking off AIGA DC Design Week! Adobe, our partner, is also sponsoring their events during the week, including the "Creative Portfolio Review" right here in my city, my hood of NE DC.

What a perfect way to celebrate almost-birthday wishes for Chairman Professor Tewodross M. Williams! I'm kicking off a campaign to bring a fresh start to my creative network, just like I found on Bowie State's campus with the VCDMA program. Day 1 of the Prince George's Film Festival was the perfect launchpad, where I chatted with fellow Advertising Design alums before heading to Recital #111 on AI Storytelling. Sponsored by FGW- AI and Digital Express AI, the core message was clear: Black AI equals the ecosystem, and AI is the content partner we need to embrace. It's an assistant technology, a toolbox for creatives to up-skill, fact-check, and monetize their work—turning Gen Z channels into dollars. From discussing how AI is taking over Hollywood to strategizing for a $1791 budget "reset," the day was a deep dive into the future. With the VCDMA lens and a nod to pioneers like Robbin Lawrence of Backspin Chronicles, I’m making a statement: I’m ready to embrace this new era of tech-integrated filmmaking and strategy. Hire me—because I'm taking my chances with grown folks, for real!
The rhythm of the mainstream of Hip-Hop beats differently when you're caught in a whirlwind of new opportunities and cultural shifts. I've been wrestling with some vague but persistent thoughts about Asia, but on a much brighter note, I'm thrilled to have landed the The Driving Force Internship—my first internship that's actually driven by human connection and not some AI scam! Things are heating up with the Mantant family project, and honestly, it feels like it's going to be a blockbuster; I'm leaning into my role as the masisi (or "masisi in the family") and finding a surprising depth to my family's heritage. Speaking Haitian Creole with the family has been a game-changer, and it turns out we literally embody a BSU Family dynamic. Suddenly, I've got this unique, insider BSU Haitian perspective that I'm trying to make sense of. It's a confusing but exciting time, especially as I look at this project snippet, "The B-Side," and its eerie proclamation: "The Future is the Past of the B side. Your CREDIT in AI. Overtake AI." It makes me think about the hustle, the game, and the need to stay sharp—a lesson I only truly understand from watching The Player's Club.

The artistic drive is pulling me back to the timeless appeal of monogram designs—there's just something incredibly satisfying about turning initials into a powerful, personalized brand. It’s a creative exercise that’s all about elegant precision. But my sights are also locked on the next big canvas: filmmaking. Inspired by the impact of "The Heir" trailer, I'm fully committed to telling my own story on screen. I’m preparing to soak up every bit of wisdom at the upcoming "Producing Your First Film" panel discussion. As a blerd who draws a crowd with an NBO comic-con-style passion—think Dragon Ball Z level intensity—I'm focused on surrounding myself with a genuine and credible team, the Zoes of my village, who can give the right kind of opinion and industry blessing. This isn't about BS; it's about authentic creation and turning that creative fire (even that Taurus weekend anger!) into a successful venture, where the next step is connecting with sponsors whose benefits align perfectly with our vision.
