Cheaper by the Dozen Meets Random Encounter at Hilltop Plaza by: Mardline Prevot  Logo of Hilltop Plaza  Happy Birthday to the one and only King of Pop, Michael Jackson. While y'all are probably blasting "Thriller" or "Billie Jean," I'm out here on a whole other vibe, fighting for my life at the Beauty 4 U. A queen needs her hair elastics for this fall internship grind, you feel me? I swear, the universe was trying to tell me something today. I walk in, and Blondie's "The Tide Is High" is playing. My brain immediately goes into a movie montage. I'm picturing some dude getting frisked for cash like it's a 90s action flick, and I'm just here for the drama. Then, like a switch, "Dreamin'" by Vanessa Williams comes on. I’m thinking, "Wait, am I the main character in a rom-com now? Is this a sign that I'm about to live my best life?" Then reality hits me like a rogue bus. I push open the door to a back room, a...

DTLR: HBCU Welcome Back Tour  Bowie State Edition  By: Mardline Prevot  Via instagram.  The first week of a new semester always feels like a kickoff, a fresh start. But this last one for me, my final semester as an undergrad at Bowie State, felt different. It was a whirlwind of reflection and anticipation, a blend of what was and what's to come. My day started with a mission: securing a limited-edition DTLR GTA V T-shirt for my collection. It sounds trivial, but it was a small win, a moment of joy before diving into the chaos. The same goes for the "Trois Mousquetaires" —my team on a mission to get our concept, "Bowie State’s Got Talent," pitched to the Office of New Student Experiences. As an entrepreneur at heart, I’m good at the hustle but still learning to be more outspoken. This whole experience is a game, and I'm learning to keep my helmet on and play until the final whistle. Between meetings, I was late to my theater course—a new journey for me. I...

2025 Fall Academic Semester: Senior Thesis Edition by: Mardline Prevot Advertising Design by Mazopal Design Back on Campus: The Final Semester The summer was a lot. I just officially kicked off my final, pre-graduation semester as an undergrad at Bowie State University . I’m studying Visual Communication and Digital Media Arts with a concentration in Advertising Design . And after the roller coaster of a summer I just had, it feels good to be back on campus. You'd think a summer full of new opportunities would be a great thing, but my "movie production" of a summer, set in the United States, started with a major plot twist. The Scam and The Struggle I thought I'd finally landed a great summer internship. It was a remote position, and after an interview on Microsoft Teams , they sent me a check to deposit. It felt legit. But when they asked me to send money via Zelle or Cash App after the check didn't clear, I knew something was wrong. I was a victim of a scam. ...
